What is GLOBAL GAME JAM?
The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is an annual event that brings together game developers, designers, artists, and enthusiasts from around the world to collaborate on the creation of games within a short time frame. It helps to foster new friendships, increase confidence in aspiring game developers and creates opportunities within local communities.
The GGJ is the starting point for countless game developers who have turned a moment of bravery to join their first GGJ event into a successful and sustainable career in game development. Our vast network of volunteer organizers are vetted and committed to our mission of empowerment and inclusivity, helping us build a safe and welcoming event and community for everyone.
What to expect in 2025
Nerd|Otaku are once again organizing the Zambia Jamsites for 2025. This year the GGJ will be a hybrid event once more. What that means is the first 5 days will be online for participants who wish to start early, and the final 2 days will be hosted at the International School of Lusaka in Lusaka and in Kitwe at Mukuba Unipod at Copperbelt University. All communication will be done through our Nerd Otaku Discord server. If you have not connected to our server yet, please do that now.
Our 2024 JAMSITE
Nerd|Otaku and Liquid Intelligent Technologies partnered to host the GGJ Nerd Otaku Zambia Jamsite in 2024. It was an enjoyable experience as we came together to craft games big and small from board games to platformers. We acquired new skills, forged friendships, and celebrated our mutual passion for gaming and the process behind the development of games.
